They say “once you go black you never go back” but going dark in an interior is always a scary step to take. Is it worth it? Oh YES, trust me! I know it might be a tough venture to go to the dark side but doing it will be a bold transformation to your living space.
First, color is totally personal and has no specific definition. So the way you feel towards any color and specifically dark colors depends on you. For me it reflects a sense of mystery and coolness.
In any interior space Dark Colors are moody, atmospheric and comforting at the same time. If you go dark, know that you have to create the right atmosphere with the best lighting selection to create a livable enjoyable space.
Even if the room gets enough natural light during day time, at night and with an interesting light mood, it appears more lush, more dramatic and Oh so much cooler.
So instead of a bright or yellowish white, you can always opt for a deep navy blue (my all time favorite) or a seductive dark green or even matt black. The result will be a room that embraces you.
If you like you can always furbish the room with bright accessories and dramatic greenery and plants. Or if you wanna stick to darkness inserting a touch of warm metallics will do the job. I love adding brass, coppers and gold against dark backgrounds that will increase the sophisticated side and add a dramatic effect.
In the end, a well-chosen dark color can be transformative. So be daring and don’t be afraid of dark…
